WOO GIRL! believes the more stories there are about women in winemaking, the more they can inspire others to seek out varied roles and capacities within the industry.
Opportunities in the industry are limitless and women of all backgrounds and ages need to see similar women in these fields when seeking out careers or exploring interests. WOO GIRL! was created as an anthem for a diverse array of women launching themselves into new ways of living, working, and playing in order to live their best life no matter the industry.
At WOO GIRL! our goal is to share mouthwatering rosé and sparkling wine to celebrate the everyday, all the victories, and the fam that support us.

WHO WE ARE
Vivian Valenzuela
A science nerd who never met a roller skate she didn’t like and whose weakness is a good bass line best describes WOO GIRL! proprietress and winemaker Vivian Valenzuela. “I’m Texan, both my parents were Baptist preachers, church is where I learned to speak Spanish, along with three years of high school French Club and a friend from Nice(France) round out my language skills. Y’all is part of my vocabulary and I “WOO” during times of celebration & triumph.”
Vivian never imagined a career in winemaking given her upbringing. What she did imagine was using her double major in physiology and communication for corporate wellness or as a foreign news correspondent. After marriage, Vivian decided to glow up her dinner party game by taking online courses through Wine Spectator. Soon she was holding blind wine tastings at her home and traveling to wine regions in the U.S. and abroad to learn more about varietals and winemaking styles.
Upon leaving Texas and moving to Washington state, Vivian and her husband were regulars on the direct flight from Seattle to Santa Rosa, California, for sunshine and wine tasting through Napa, Sonoma, and Mendocino County AVA’s.
Four years later, Vivian and Peter moved to Santa Rosa, CA, where Vivian registered for wine sensory and wine public relations courses at Santa Rosa Junior College (SRJC). She also began working as a harvest intern at Furthermore Wines in Sebastopol. During her four years at Furthermore, she was promoted to winemaking site lead and completed her Professional Enology certificate at SRJC.
While at Furthermore, Vivian trained with a rising female winemaker that encouraged her not to be afraid of the work. “You’re strong, you’re smart, and you care. Quit overthinking. You’ve got this”.
The greatest impact came through meeting more female winemakers, which was pivotal in establishing the dream to one day launch her own wine label. “Without seeing women do the labor, be sleep deprived, and come back stronger every grape harvest, I wouldn’t have considered it a possibility for my future”, said Vivian.
The second winemaker Vivian worked with expanded Vivian’s winery experience to include winery business practices, barrel health, antimicrobial prevention, continuing wine education, vineyard health, and the opportunity to do some lab work.
The shortest harvest took place in 2020 due to the COVID-19 lockdown, Walbridge Fire in Sonoma County, and Hennessey Fire in Napa. Work was sparse, allowing Vivian to build the dream of establishing WOO GIRL! When asked how she feels in her new independent direction, Vivian says, “Am I nervous? Of course I am. Winemaking is dynamic by nature. Every day I learn new things from winemaking journals and my peers. Each harvest is an opportunity to fine-tune the winemaking practice and I’m a nerd at heart. This is only the beginning for WOO GIRL! and I can’t wait to see how she and I develop with each vintage.”
